Who We Are

The Martinsburg Initiative is a partnership between Berkeley County Schools, Martinsburg Police Department, Shepherd University, as well as many community organizations. The Martinsburg Initiative received a grant through Washington-Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) in collaboration with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) through The University of Baltimore. We are focused on the schools that children who live in the City of Martinsburg attend, including: Winchester Avenue Elementary School, Tuscarora Elementary School, Burke Street Elementary School, Rosemont Elementary School, Berkeley Heights Elementary School, Opequon Elementary School, Orchard View Intermediate School and Eagle Intermediate School.

What We Do

*Advocate for children with high ACE scores to receive services that will build their resiliency. *Coordinate with community agencies, city schools and families to connect individuals with the services they need to succeed. *Educate our community about the ACE study and the impact trauma has on our public heath and education systems.
