Who We Are
The mission of Morgan County Partnership is to understand the issues facing our youth and families and to work together as a community to resolve those issues in order to provide our kids the support and skills they need to make smart decisions.
What We Do
The Morgan County Partnership was born out of a coalition of community organizations formed in 2002 that focused on strengthening afterschool programs in Morgan County, West Virginia. Since then, the MCP has embraced its mission to
understand the issues facing youth and families, to work together to resolve those issues, and to provide children the support and skills they need to make smart decisions.
The organizational goal is to increase the number of developmental assets of children, as described by the Search Institute, to prevent them from engaging in risky behaviors, such as drug abuse.
The MCP continues to utilize the prevention coalition to mobilize the community to address its unanswered needs within the Morgan County, while implementing school-based programs to strengthen youth resiliency. The MCP programs include positive youth activities (Youth Leadership Academy and SADD Chapter), K-12 prevention programs (Positive Action and Too Good For Drugs) and intervention programs (Morgan County Teen Court & SBIRT (screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment).
